Tips to Prevent Chemicals Going Down Street Drains.

People need to know that everything they pour down the street drains ends up in our lake or river!

An idea to help our wetlands is people should not litter and dump things in the lake. The wetlands are a place for animals and if people dump things in the water it will kill a lot of animals. The last time we were in the spillway, I saw a man dump oil out his boat into the lake. People need to know that they should not do this.

People need to know that they cannot put waste or toxins of any kind in the water because the waste can kill the animals and ruin their environment.

America’s Wetland – Fantastic Facts and Information!

Kids can research information about the wetlands and make posters showing why they are so important. They can put the posers in stores so that people will get interested in the wetlands and maybe see some ways they can help.

Awareness advertisement would be the spread the word about our wetlands. If we keep on advertising about our wetlands, people would think about our land. Brochures and flyers can get the word out about erosion and the animals that live in the wetlands. Help Save Our Wetlands!!!

Making posters and brochures lets people know about the wetlands and how to save them. It also gets the information out there to different people. That can help to save the wetlands.

  • Write a letter to the newspaper about why you think wetlands are important.

Writing a letter to your congressman would help because it would be seen all over the country. The congressman could take my letter to a higher authority.

Letters and government and newspapers can help wetlands because they can tell people how to improve wetlands and give animals a bigger home.
Allysa M. 12 years old

Write a letter to the government would be a good idea. Coming from a kid would probably mean a lot to a congressman.

  • Set up a booth at a local fair or festival to tell people about wetland values and challenges.

I think if five groups of seven students stand in different parts of the community so that people can get handouts about wetlands, people will learn a lot.
